It appears that American Idol is taking the next step and is accepting band applications. The announcement was made moments ago on thier live semi-semi final show of the fifth season.
It will be interesting to see what is going to come of out of this. It will probably not stick, though. I don’t think it will be as funny to watch in the beginning as American Idol now, though, because if you’re in a band, you’re more likely to have SOME talent and the focus won’t just be on one bad singer. In a group, a crappy artist will be more likely to make it through the cracks because everyone is not looking at just them.
Also, Ryan Seacrest mentioned in the announcement that anyone ANY age can submit their application. Imagine the potential disaster this can create. Hehe – a 3 year old little boy playing his little kiddie piano he got for Christmas and his parents thinking he’s super cute but we (the poor audience) is just desperately waiting for him to stop!
As I already said, though, this will be interesting to see what comes of it.
